‘Why did you shoot Jesus?’ Family met with silence after US cops shoot Latino teen in detention
Published on Sep 8, 2016
Friends and family of Jesus Vargas demanded that Collin County Detention Facility release information about the Latino teenager, Thursday, after he was detained and later shot by police in the town of Celina in August for allegedly attacking a police dog. Vargas’ sympathisers have reportedly not received any information about the young man since.
Some 60 activists from “Somos America”, together with the relatives of Jesus Vargas, stormed the detention centre reception, refusing to leave until they were met by the county sheriff.
The Latino teen was detained by police during a domestic dispute on August 18. While he was in police custody, he allegedly ran away from the officers, who claim that he later tried to attack a police dog, leading to a deputy shooting him. Although he survived, his family has reportedly not heard from him since. He has been charged with aggravated assault against a public servant and harassment while in detention.
Collin County Detention Facility Needs To BE DESTROYED.
